There is a notable ease and assurance that accompanies being well prepared for something. Getting to know Stephanie, it did not take long to discover that she is remarkably proactive, the epitome of responsible and the most detail oriented individual. She had every component of her wedding taken care of well before it needed to be. Come the morning of her wedding day, she was ready to go hours before she needed to be. This brought about a calm, light and unrushed atmosphere to the day that enabled her to soak in each and every moment without any added stress or pressure.
This same principle seems to apply to each and every component in her life, nothing more so than her relationship with her groom. Eric is the most cool, calm, collected, and even keeled guy. He is steadfast and the perfect complement to Steph.
The word that stood out the most getting to know these two has been intentionality. They pay attention. They make an effort. They care deeply.
That thoughtfulness and attention brings about the same attributes that characterized their wedding day to their relationship. They have a deep connection; they are well prepared, and they are proactive which brings about a light, unrushed confidence to their marriage. They may have sparkles in their eyes when they look at one another, and smiles that never leave their faces when they are together. But their connection is so much deeper than surface level.
Eric and Stephanie both attended West Virginia University, the place their paths crossed and their lives as they knew them forever changed in the best way. Their West Virginia roots run deep, so singing Country Roads alongside all their guests to end the night was more than fitting. Their cowboy boots were also an enchanting touch, and a huge crowd pleaser during the shoe game they played at their reception. Bramblewood served as the ideal backdrop for their rustic summer affair. The sun shone brightly all day long before the clouds rolled in, bringing with them a brief downpour and some luck for the couple. While it looked as though there would be no sunset, we were all taken by surprise to see the vibrant and extravagant colors that filled the sky as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Weather is one of those things you certainly can’t control, but when we saw the sky on fire, Stephanie grabbed her new husband and they slipped away from the party for a few minutes to dance and laugh under the radiant country backdrop - just the two of them. And it was clear: These two will work together and plan ahead for everything, but their steady intentionality frees them to enjoy some unexpected spontaneity. And when life throws them curveballs they can't control or plan for, they will walk hand in hand, probably in cowboy boots, steadfast, unshakable, with sparkles in their eyes.
Congratulations, Mr & Mrs. Beatty!
